In August 2022, Andrealiz Uy left a Director of Operations role and opened a small office in Ortigas. The idea behind it was simple and a little stubborn: the businesses that most need strong operations are usually the ones who can least afford to build them.
Executives Diary Magazine interviewed her about how she got there, what she has built since, and why she runs AB Business Support Services the way she does.
Twelve years leading global operations
Andi studied Mass Communication at St. Paul University Quezon City. Twelve years leading global operations followed, beginning with seven years at Accenture, where she moved through customer service, finance, and order management before taking over as an Order Management Team Manager. From there she ran Language Services Operations at Smartling across Asia Pacific, then served as Director of Operations at Redeem Vacations.
Three companies, three very different problems, one conclusion.
“In the world of business, every experience counts; it’s not just about what you do, but how you do it.”
The gap AB Business Support Services was built to fill
Small and medium businesses hit a wall that larger ones never feel. They need finance support, customer support, order management, and admin capacity, but hiring and training those teams in-house costs more than the work is worth at their size. So the work gets handed to whoever has the least on their plate, and it quietly stops being done well.
AB Business Support Services exists for that wall. Real operational teams, at a cost a growing business can carry, shaped around what each client actually needs instead of a fixed package.
Where she is least willing to compromise
The most striking part of the interview is not the business strategy. It is how firmly she treats mental health and work-life balance as operating decisions rather than perks. Her reasoning is practical. People who are looked after do better work, and managers who hold on too tightly never find out what their team is capable of.
“Building your dream team is not just about finding talent; it’s about creating an environment where everyone can flourish.”
It shows in who she hires and who she keeps close.
“Surround yourself with people who inspire you and embody the qualities you aspire to achieve.”
And in how she talks about growth, which is less about chasing and more about becoming worth finding.
“When we focus on growing our own garden—developing our skills, nurturing relationships, and creating value—the ‘butterflies’ naturally come to us.”
What comes next
The plan is to widen what AB Business Support Services offers and build it into the leading provider of tailored business support, through a growing set of business partnerships.
Her measure of whether that works is characteristically plain.
“For me, success is about doing what you love and delivering exceptional results through it.”
